AI That Enhances Your Creativity: The Event Planner's Secret Weapon
I'll be honest, I've love AI from the minute it was launched but I was also worried about it taking my job. I thought it would replace the very tasks that I had hung my hat on and yes, it still will take many of those tasks. But the opportunity it's opened up for me instead, has been far greater. The creative thinking that makes events special now has far more time to reveal itself to me in the event planning process. While my AI agents run evaluation tasks, research latest technologies and read and report on the latest industry trends, I'm building worthwhile experiences with my clients.
AI as Your Creative Partner
Here's how I use AI now: I use it to do the grunt work so I can think bigger. I ask it to help me brainstorm 100 unexpected venue ideas, and then I pick the three that spark something in me. I use it to draft multiple versions of a concept so I can see which direction feels right. I ask it to help me think through the technical problems so I can focus on the experience.
I'm not using AI to create my vision for me. I'm using it to expand my thinking. It's like having an incredibly knowledgeable, infinitely patient creative assistant who never gets tired.
The events I've created with AI as a partner are actually more creative than the ones where I was working from pure intuition. Why? Because I have more mental space to think bigger.
Practical Applications in Event Planning
I use AI for:
- Brainstorming activity ideas and then refining the ones that fit our vision
- Drafting multiple concepts quickly so I can workshop them
- Thinking through logistics problems and edge cases
- Generating speaker suggestion lists based on very specific criteria
- Creating detailed timelines and contingency plans
- Helping me think through participant experience from multiple angles
The key is using it to enhance my thinking, not replace it. I'm making the creative decisions. AI is just helping me think faster and explore more possibilities.
The Future of Event Creation
I think about event planning differently now. Instead of being limited by how much I can hold in my head or how much time I have to brainstorm, I'm limited only by my imagination.
The best part? The events aren't becoming more generic, they're becoming more thoughtfully crafted because I have the space to refine every detail.
How could you use AI to expand your creative thinking around your next event?
